# TikTok publishing options

> Who can view a TikTok post, whether people can comment, duet or stitch it, and the commercial disclosure TikTok requires.

TikTok asks for more at publish time than any other channel. When a post includes a TikTok channel, the editor shows a set of options that apply to that channel only — and two of them have to be answered before Ocoya will publish.

Ocoya reads these from your TikTok account when you open the post, so the choices offered are the ones your account actually allows.

## Who can view this post?

Not every account offers all four — TikTok decides which are available, and a new or restricted account may see fewer. Ocoya only offers what your account reports.

  A privacy setting must be chosen. Publishing without one is refused with *Select a TikTok privacy setting before publishing*.

If your account's available settings change between scheduling and publishing, the post fails rather than guessing:

> The selected TikTok privacy setting is no longer available. Review the post and choose another setting.

## Comments, Duet and Stitch

Three switches controlling what other people can do with the video:

* **Comment** — whether people can comment
* **Duet** — whether people can post alongside your video
* **Stitch** — whether people can clip part of your video into theirs

These are TikTok's own interaction settings, and the same restrictions apply as in the TikTok app — some account types can't enable all three.

## Disclosing commercial content

TikTok requires you to declare whether a post promotes anything. Ocoya asks the same question, and **won't publish until it's answered**:

> Indicate whether the TikTok post promotes your brand, a third party, or both

Two checkboxes under **Disclose commercial content**:

* **Your brand** — *You are promoting yourself or your own business*
* **Branded content** — *You are promoting another brand or a third party*

You can tick either, or both. At least one has to be ticked when the disclosure applies.

<Warning>
  **Branded content cannot be private.** If you tick Branded content, the privacy setting can't be Only me, and Ocoya refuses with *Branded TikTok content cannot be posted with private visibility*. TikTok requires branded content to be publicly visible.

This isn't an Ocoya rule — it's TikTok's disclosure policy, and getting it wrong on a paid post is a problem with the platform rather than with Ocoya.

## Common problems

**"It won't let me schedule."** One of the two required answers is missing — the privacy setting, or the commercial disclosure.

**"The options are still loading."** Ocoya fetches your current TikTok settings when the post opens. If they don't appear, the channel may need [reconnecting](/help/reconnect-a-channel).

**"It published with the wrong privacy."** The setting is per post, not per channel — check it on each TikTok post rather than assuming it carries over.
