Why can't I edit this post?

A post that won’t let you change it is usually in one of four states.

It’s about to publish

Ocoya locks a post two minutes before its scheduled time. Once inside that window the caption, media and schedule are all fixed. That’s the same two minutes you can’t schedule inside — Ocoya needs the lead time to queue the post, and letting you edit while it’s being handed over would mean publishing something different from what you saw. If you need to stop it, you have those two minutes to delete the post. After that it’s going out.

It’s already published

A published post can’t be edited from Ocoya, and it can’t be rescheduled:

Posted posts cannot be rescheduled

What’s on the network is now an ordinary post on your account. Edit or delete it there — Ocoya doesn’t reach back into published content.

It’s still generating

A post Ocoya is writing shows as Generating and is locked until it finishes. Wait for it, then edit normally.

It partly failed

A post at Needs attention published to some channels but not others, and can’t be rescheduled as a whole:

Posts needing attention cannot be rescheduled

Rescheduling would publish it twice on the channels that already worked. Remove the channels that succeeded, then reschedule the rest. See Why didn’t my post publish?

Approvals are unavailable too

The same locks apply to sending a post for sign-off:

Approval is unavailable while this post is locked

If a post is publishing, published or generating, it can’t enter an approval flow. See Post approvals.

What you can always do

Duplicate it. A locked post can still be copied, and the copy is a normal editable post. That’s the way to reuse a published caption, or to salvage one you couldn’t stop in time. See Edit, duplicate or delete a post.
