Inbox conversations can trigger workflows — an automatic reply to a DM, a comment answered, a DM sent to whoever commented. This is how to see what’s already running and add more.

See what’s acting on a conversation

Open a conversation and look at Automations in the panel on the right. It lists the workflows attached to that profile, each showing whether it’s live, and selecting one opens it in the workflow builder. That answers the question people actually have when a reply appears they didn’t write: what sent that? Connect existing attaches another existing workflow to this profile. Workflows already attached are greyed out in that list, so you can’t attach the same one twice.

Setting one up

The workflows that act on the Inbox come from three examples: Create one from Workflows → New workflow. See Create a workflow.
These run on the Inbox, so they cover Facebook and Instagram only. A DM workflow on any other network will never fire.

What it costs

Every run costs 1 credit, including runs that a filter stops. This is the one place where automation costs can surprise you: a comment trigger fires once per comment, so a post that does well can produce a lot of runs quickly. If that happens, a tighter Filter is the fix — or pause the workflow, which stops the spend immediately. See What are credits?

Automation and people together

An automated reply doesn’t close a conversation. It appears in the thread like any other reply, and the conversation stays Open until someone resolves it. That’s deliberate — it lets a bot handle the first response while a person still reviews what happened. If you’d rather see only what needs a human, work from the Assigned to me filter and assign the conversations that need one.
