Snapchat connects at the Public Profile level — the profile a business or creator runs, not a personal Snapchat account. A post is a single vertical video, which makes it the strictest channel Ocoya publishes to.
Before you start
Three things have to be true:
- You have a Snapchat business organization with a Public Profile. A personal account has nothing to post to.
- Your Snapchat user can post to that profile.
- Ocoya’s Snapchat app is approved by Snap. Snapchat’s Public Profile API is only open to approved partners, so this is not something Ocoya can grant on its own.

Select Channels in the left sidebar, then Connect channel.
Choose Snapchat
Pick Snapchat from the Add a connection panel.
Authorize on Snapchat
Ocoya sends you to Snapchat to approve access to your profiles and permission to post to them.
Pick up your profiles
Every Public Profile you can post to arrives as its own channel. If you belong to several organizations, the ones you have no rights in are simply left out.
What you can post
| Post type | Supported |
|---|---|
| Vertical video (.mp4) | Yes — required |
| Images | No |
| GIF | No |
| Text-only | No |
Video only. This is the one channel where a still cannot be published at all — Snapchat’s Public Profile API documents .mp4 and nothing else. Attach an image to a post going to Snapchat and it is refused in the editor.
The video
| Format | .mp4 |
| Duration | 5–60 seconds |
| Resolution | 540 × 960 or larger |
| Orientation | Vertical |
| Size | Up to 300 MB |
The size cap is Ocoya’s. Snapchat publishes no total, only a limit on how the upload is chunked — 300 MB sits comfortably inside it.
If you already cut a Reel, a Short or a TikTok, the same file works here. That is the point of the channel: one vertical cut, scheduled everywhere at once.
Captions
A Story carries no caption. Snapchat’s story endpoint takes the video and nothing else, so anything you write is not published with it.
A Spotlight does carry one, capped at 160 characters, and Ocoya trims to that.
Ocoya publishes Stories by default. If you need Spotlight instead, talk to support — it is set per channel rather than per post, because the two are different surfaces with different rules.
How the upload works
Worth knowing only because it explains the timing: Snapchat requires media to be encrypted and uploaded in parts rather than posted in one request. Ocoya does that for you, but a large video takes noticeably longer to publish than on other channels. Schedule with a little room rather than to the minute.
Common problems
“Snapchat posts require a video.” The post has no video. A still, a GIF or text alone is not publishable here.
“Snapchat videos cannot exceed 300 MB.” Export it smaller — a 60-second vertical clip is normally far under this.
“This video is too large for Snapchat.” The upload would need more parts than Snapchat allows. Same fix: export smaller.
“This Snapchat account has no Public Profile you can post to.” The account has no Public Profile, or no posting rights on one. Both are settings in Snapchat Business.
“This Snapchat account cannot post to that Public Profile.” Posting rights were removed on Snapchat’s side. Restore them there and reconnect.
“The Snapchat app is not allowlisted for the Public Profile API.” Snap has not approved the app for posting. Nothing in Ocoya can work around this.
“Connection to your profile has expired. Please reconnect.” See Reconnect a channel.
